Information security has become one of the major challenges in the field of medical informatics where a minute tempering in the digital footprint can cost a patient&s;s life. Image steganography is one of the important techniques used. It is superior to cryptography since the unauthorized user is ignorant of the existence of confidential messages encapsulated in cover media and thus augmenting the concept of security. This chapter overviews the challenges in the data-hiding paradigm, the methodologies needing to be overcome, and the comprehensive comparative analysis of various algorithms in the field of medical image steganography.
