Industry 4.0 is the digital transformation and automation of production, manufacturing, and value creation processes. The techniques, tools, and procedures used to achieve industry 4.0 are continuously advancing, and automation of platform validation is one of them. Manual testing of platforms for Wi-Fi connectivity is a time-consuming process, owing to the large number of test cases present. The significant challenges in manual testing are the generation of test files and the configuration of external peers. Hence, automation testing is required to overcome the drawbacks of manual testing. This paper proposes an automation framework that reduces infrastructural dependencies, time, and manual interactions in platform testing for Wi-Fi connectivity. The proposed automation framework achieved an average test time of 18.21 seconds. The novelty of the proposed automation framework lies in eliminating the dependency of test files on the Device Under Test (DUT) platform and the need for multiple external peers. The automation framework proposed can validate any platform using any commercial Network Interface Card (NIC) available in the market.
