Design of Network Intrusion Detection System Based on Data Mining

Intrusion Detection System (IDS), as a supplement of firewall, has been widely used in our computers so far. However, the traditional intrusion detection system has some defects, such as poor self-adaptation, high false alarm and missed alarm rates, and untimely response. In recent years, “Data mining” appears in front of people. It searches for useful information from massive data through special algorithms, which can be used to predict development trends, correlate different things, support decision-making and so on. In this paper, data mining technology and network-based intrusion detection technology are organically combined to establish an adaptive network intrusion detection system model. The experimental results show that the system has certain adaptive ability and can effectively detect external intrusion.
