In recent years, biometric technologies continue to be actively integrated into various fields around the world and directly in human life. They have become an integral component of the global information technology market and are a convenient tool for solving a wide range of tasks. Biometric technologies have found their application and are widely used in banks, schools, libraries, institutes, the financial sector, corporate and government agencies, as well as in consumer electronics such as smartphones and tablets. They also help big businesses automate access control and control processes, being indispensable helpers in addition to traditional security methods. Two approaches to the location of the near-infrared camera module and the LED indicator - functional components of the designed biometric vein scanning system - are proposed. The process of recognizing and isolating features is based on the ORB algorithm. The software is implemented using the OpenCV open-source library, which contains functions and classes for image processing by computer vision algorithms. Such a system, built into the smartphone and working in real time, can be used, for example, to make online payments, confirm important actions and, above all, unlock the screen without touching the device itself.
