Secure Bootloader for Connectivity MCU

In today’s world it has become necessary to establish security between servers, cloud applications and servers, and users and services, as the number of devices connecting to the internet is ever increasing. PSoC™ 64 MCUs integrate PSoC™ 6 architecture with structured open-source IoT platform to deliver a secure solution. The present model uses an external flash to boot the user applications. This slows down the processing speed of the execution of the application and boot loading time. Hence, it is required to enable the application to write Bootable slot of subsequent user applications and update Bootloader during manufacturing. To do so, provisioning is performed to enable complete secured boot functionality of PSoC64. Then, a high-level design is devised for a customized bootloader and RAM application firmware. Following this, a customized bootloader is developed that incorporates DFU middleware library to generate .cyacd2 file and download it using the DFU host tool, in order to update the version of the running firmware from the RAM of the device to ensure robust and faster firmware updates.
