In computing, a denial-of-service attack (DDOS) is a cyber-attack in which the perpetrator seeks to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users by temporarily or indefinitely disrupting services of a host connected to the Internet. This paper provides discussion on several categories of distributed denial of service, how it works and what are the content of network logs that can be generated to show the evidence of the attack. There are also different types of distributed denial of service attack that being conducted in around the world and the log evidences showing the traces of the attack will be reviewed. This paper also proposed an Incident Response Plan that was designed as part of the prevention action plan to countermeasure the attack.
