To produce reliable software under cost and schedule constraints, we need to carefully plan our project activities and ensure that the plan is implementable by the team put together to do the job. This chapter outlines how to develop an overall strategy for software reliability. It then covers the nature of our software reliability objectives and provides details on how to plan the project to build reliability into the software with each project activity. We also discuss how to make the plan implementable. Finally, we address similarities and di?erences between hardware reliability and software reliability.
