We numerically investigate time-delay photonic reservoirs to provide a deep understanding of their complex nonlinear dynamics, in connection to their memory and performance to solve machine learning problems. We explore the ability of such systems to tackle tasks with progressing difficulty towards optimized neuromorphic photonic applications.
