It has emerged that a novel way for the visual representation of meteorological data with the maturing of Immersive Analytics(IA). We propose an immersive meteorological virtual sandbox to resolve the problems of restricted representation and data perception in 2D analysis. It is a new visual method that allows users to interact directly with data by utilizing non-contact aerial gestures (NCAG). The fact that IA is currently not prevalent in weather visualization. In our system, we propose a new flow of visual exploration in meteorology based on the “What You See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG) concept from scientific visualization, which can address the problems of weather data analysis in an immersive environment. Finally, we conduct a questionnaire for users who are invited to test our system and assess our work. The evaluation demonstrates that our system can reduce the cognitive burden, reduce the mental workload, and strengthen user's spatial memory.
