An ETL strategy for integrating the LA Referencia platform and VIVO for the Brazilian CRIS

The BrCris project has as its main goal to provide a unified view of the Brazilian research ecosystem. The LA Referencia platform is the main resource supporting the project, allowing us to treat heterogeneous data gathered from distinct sources and export the resulting datasets to different tools for data visualization, search, and analysis. We also use the VIVO platform for visualizing the data as a knowledge graph, which builds upon a semantic model based on the VIVO ontology. To make the data flow from the LA Referencia relational database to VIVO, we developed an Extraction, Transformation, and Load tool, which integrates both platforms ensuring data synchronization and making the resulting graph available for easy navigation and search
