Posit is the alternative representation of real numbers. The advantage of posit compared to floating-point format is increase in dynamic range and it overcomes the overflow, underflow, NaN (Not a Number) problems in floating-point number representation. In this paper, posit adders are proposed with 5 bit of constant regime width and compared with single precision floating-Point adders. This variation in regime bit changes the dynamic range and precision. The implementation of posit adder with Regime-5 decreases the area by 23%, delay by 36%. The power has been lowered by more than half. The precision of regime-5 is great, but the dynamic range is limited.
