The protection of AI-generated pictures (photograph and painting) under copyright law

Artificial intelligence (AI), and especially deep learning technologies, are increasingly used by AI artists in various artistic fields. Among its many possible uses in the arts (for example in the creation of music, poems, screenplays, and many others), AI can generate new pictures. This contribution analyses the criterion of originality under copyright law for AI-generated pictures, from the input to the output stage.
