Abhirami sunil, Ayushi Sharma, Sanidhya Jagdish, Kamal Rawal · 2022

The sudden onset of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus in the year2020 created high pressure on researchers and drug developers to discover or create a quick, effectivecure. Since the discovery of novel drugs created specifically for the virus takes up years of research andmillions of resources, one of the adopted strategies included drug repurposing of already available drugs.A part of drug repurposing is understanding the interactions between various proteins, drugs, and targetsof both humans and viruses. For this purpose, we have created an interactome database consisting ofprotein-protein interactions. This was achieved by extracting datasets from already existing databases andit was combined to create PPIdb- the database of protein-protein interactions which can be utilized togather information over a wide range of PPIs at a single destination. Further; this database shall beutilized for COVID-19-related drug repurposing projects in our lab.
