Test Policy and Test Strategy
Bernard Homès · 2022
Test policy and test strategies can be differentiated according to the type of system (new or under maintenance). A test policy is therefore important in that it makes it possible to associate test activities – as well as continuous quality improvement – with each organization's activities and thus legitimize the recommendations for improvements identified during tests and through analysis of the faults found. The test strategy implements and details the test policy on a system or on a system-of-systems. A test strategy must also show the differences between standard management processes and processes applicable on the project, and how they fit together. Four main test strategies are possible for an application. Some are better suited to systems-of-systems than others: analytical strategies; methodical strategies; reactive strategies; and consultative strategies. The test strategy must consider the test environments associated with the development models and test levels implemented.
