R. G. Purandare, Archana K. Ratnaparkhi, Pallavi Deshpande, Arti V. Bang, Shraddha K. Habbu, Rohini A. Chavan · 2022

The advancements in the Internet of Things and the proliferation of cloud-based services have stretched the realms of computing standards. Edge computing processes the data at the network’s edge. Edge computing possesses the capability to address the need for response time and its requirement, compulsion of battery life and safety concerns, and privacy of data. In this chapter, the authors have introduced edge computing and discussed its definition. They also present a few challenges and research opportunities in edge computing. They have proposed the channel allocation scheme, which is edge-based for some capricious networks. It is expected that the chapter will give the reader an insight into edge computing and also will inspire research in the near future.
