Distributed Target Detection in Homogeneous Environments

When the number of test data is more than one, it corresponds to adaptive detection problems for three cases. The first case is a distributed target detection problem, where the target echoes occupy multiple range cells. The second case is the target detection problem in multiband radar. In such a case, the test data are collected from multiple bands. The third case is the adaptive detection problem where the test data are collected from multiple coherent processing intervals or dwells. Based on multiple test data, this chapter focuses on designing two adaptive detectors with persymmetry by using the principles of one-step and two-step generalized likelihood ratio tests. Analytical performance of the two detectors is provided, which is verified via Monte Carlo simulations.
