Adaptive Detection in Partially Homogeneous Environments

Jun Liu, Danilo Orlando, Chengpeng Hao, Weijian Liu · 2022

In order to account for power variations, a slightly generalized noise model (i.e., partially homogeneous environment) has been widely investigated by the radar community. It assumes that the covariance matrix of the primary data and that of secondary data coincide only up to a scaling factor. Partially homogeneous scenarios fit in those situations where the maximum spacing between any two secondary range cells is small compared with the scale over which power levels change (adjacent range cells that are not in the immediate vicinity of the cell under test). In this chapter, the one-step and two-step generalized likelihood ratio tests, as well as the Rao and the Wald test are introduced for the radar targets detection problem in the partially homogeneous environment.
