An Efficient Single Image Fog Removal using Improved Dark Channel Prior

Fog removal is one of the most challenging problem in image processing. In the most scenes, using dark channel prior (DCP) for single image fog removal achieves good results. However, DCP itself has weakness to poorly suffer scenes having extreme light source. We propose an improved single image fog removal algorithm that based on DCP algorithm-a very popular single image fog removal algorithm. As a result, the proposed method can improve the fog removal effectiveness up to 19.7%, which enhances the vision of camera system application.
