Following deregulation, the private sector has made significant investments in information technology, power, and telecommunications. Many developing nations, including India, are pursuing infrastructure development through private investment. Critical infrastructures (CI) are becoming an essential aspect of the Internet, supporting many of our daily activities i.e., telecommunication services, financial transactions, transportation, water supply, energy usage, and so on. However, the regulatory frameworks’ insufficient priority on crisis management and recovery is the reason for worry. This chapter investigates the numerous vulnerabilities and threats that exist in CI today and the issue in CI includes technical, operational, and behavioral view. The challenges and security attacks on CI are presented in this chapter along with the suitable solutions to mitigate the risks. The use of 5G technologies will help in developing strategies and processes to secure CI. The pivotal point is that 5G provides the platform and networks required to execute automation of different sectors. This chapter provides recommendations to secure CI.
