MainExperiment DATA description: The name of each ".mat" file reports the participant's alphanumeric code and, after the underscore, the number of fragments shown in the task, the percentual visible area revealed by the fragments, and the contrast condition. Each ".mat" file contains: Column 1: Trial number Column 2: Number of the image from which fragments have been extracted Column 3: Number of the image fragments combination (from 1 to 5) Column 4: Average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the image’s fragments Column 5: Number of the image used as target in the task Column 6: Number of the image used as distractor in the task Column 7: Target’s contrast condition (0: original contrast, 1: inverted contrast) Column 8: Distractor’s contrast condition (0: original contrast, 1: inverted contrast) Column 9: Order of target image in the 2IFC task (1: first interval, 2: second interval) Column 10: Participant’s response (1: target in first interval; 2: target in second interval) Column 11: Correct response (0: incorrect, 1: correct) Column 12: Reaction time (in seconds) Column 13: Average Weber contrast of the image’s fragments MainExperiment STIMULI description: The name of each folder reports the number of fragments contained in the images, the percentual visible area revealed by the fragments, and the contrast condition. In each folder, there are the stimuli used (“.tif”) and, for each of them, there is a corresponding “.mat” file that contains: Row 1: Fragment pixels Row 2: Coordinates of the fragment in the image Row 3: Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the fragment (calculated with 3x3 pixels features) Row 4: Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the fragment (calculated with 6x6 pixels features) Row 5: Weber contrast of the fragment Each column corresponded to an image fragment. PreliminaryExperiment1 DATA description: The name of each ".mat" file reports the participant's alphanumeric code and, after the underscore, the number of fragments shown in the task, and the percentual visible area revealed by the fragments. Each ".mat" file for Area 100 and Area 35.8 contains: Column 1: Trial number Column 2: Number of the image from which fragments have been extracted Column 3: Number of the image used as target in the task Column 4: Number of the image used as distractor in the task Column 5: Order of target image in the 2IFC task (1: first interval, 2: second interval) Column 6: Participant’s response (1: target in first interval; 2: target in second interval) Column 7: Correct response (0: incorrect, 1: correct) Column 8: Reaction time (in seconds) Each ".mat" file for the other conditions contains: Column 1: Trial number Column 2: Number of the image from which fragments have been extracted Column 3: Number of the image fragments combination (from 1 to 5) Column 4: Number of the image used as target in the task Column 5: Number of the image used as distractor in the task Column 6: Order of target image in the 2IFC task (1: first interval, 2: second interval) Column 7: Participant’s response (1: target in first interval; 2: target in second interval) Column 8: Correct response (0: incorrect, 1: correct) Column 9: Reaction time (in seconds) PreliminaryExperiment1 STIMULI description: The name of each folder reports the number of fragments contained in the images and the percentual visible area revealed by the fragments. In each folder, there are the stimuli used (“.tif”). PreliminaryExperiment2 DATA description: The name of each ".mat" file reports the participant's alphanumeric code and, after the underscore, the number of fragments shown in the task and the percentual visible area revealed by the fragments.
