Due to advances in 6G technologies, the growth of mobile data gets drastically increased due to its applicability in several domains. Therefore, it becomes essential to effectively exploit the resources for the optimization of system performance and the probable solution is cognitive radio networks (CRNs). Since spectrum sensing (SS) remains a major enabling technology for CRN, cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) becomes a challenging problem in 6G enabled CRNs. The CSS problem can be considered as an non-deterministic polynomial-time (NP) hard problem that can be solved by the design of metaheuristic algorithms. In this view, this study presents elite oppositional hunger games search optimization based cooperative spectrum sensing (EOHGSO-CSS) scheme for 6G CRNs. The EOHGSO-CSS technique mainly intends to allocate the spectrum effectively in the 6G CRNs. The SS process can be carried out using different parameters such as interference, sensing time, threshold value, energy, throughput, and power allocation. Besides, the EOHSGO algorithm has been derived by the integration of elite oppositional based learning (EOBL) with traditional HGSO algorithm to improve its efficiency. For assessing the superior outcomes of the EOHGSO-CSS model, wide-ranging experiments were carried out. The extensive comparative study highlighted the enhancements of the EOHGSO-CSS model over the other approaches in terms of different measures.
