Over the years, software development has gone through many changes.One of the biggest changes that happened in recent years, is the use of the MVC pattern for developing software or web application.In the MVC development, the controller receives all requests for the application and then instructs the model to prepare any information required by the view.The view uses the data prepared by the controller to bring the final output.A REST API (also known as RESTful API) is an application programming interface (API or web API) that conforms to the constraints of REST architectural style and allows for interaction with RESTful web services.The present work forwards this approach and proposes a reference ontology for REST services along with a formal procedure for converting Open API service descriptions to instances of this ontology.We focused on tools that automatically use Swagger (OpenAPI v3.0), Specifications for designing REST APIs.We evaluated a tool whose results may help software engineers to test the APIs.
