Interactive Cognition

Yue Daiyun · 2022

This chapter states that neo-humanism for the twenty-first century is characterized by interactive cognition, or, to be more specific, bidirectional epistemology with mutual reference and mutual complementation as its core; therefore, understanding is essentially about interaction and reconstruction. It finds that in modern times there has emerged a rift between the “scientific” and “humanistic” realms, and yet natural sciences and literary research, as forms of human thinking, have commonalities. It concludes that knowledge of natural sciences and their application in literature will inspire and benefit literary research and literary creation.
