The application of the wireless sensor network (WSN) has increased attention to the operation of these type of communication. The limitation in the energy for the sensor nodes has been a point of concern for the implementation of the WSN especially in determining the length of the nodes lifetime. The energy efficiency in the network also affects the sensing coverage in the network. The energy in the network also degrades over time once the WSN has been activated. Therefore, for critical use, the energy efficiency of the WSN requires to maintained to preserve the life of operation of the nodes. This paper proposes an algorithm that will use and Memetic Algorithm (MA), wake-up schedule and a coverage control strategy to conserve energy. The techniques determined that the base node should be located at the center of the network to preserve energy and increase the lifetime of the network. The MA algorithm is used to eliminate the redundant nodes while the wake-up schedule is used to activate the inactive nodes.
