Economical and Functional Display Solution for Microcontrollers

Microcontrollers are frequently used in many system structures with their programmability and low prices. Today, the modular structure of microcontrollers and their use on cards with programming interfaces have facilitated their use in different areas. Many modular components compatible with microcontroller cards are also produced and used. The most expensive of these components is undoubtedly the screens. In systems with a microcontroller in their structure, screens with more economic value than the value of all components can be found according to their functionality. Considering the large size of an LCD and a touch screen, it is the most expensive component of a cheap microcontroller system. In this study, a smart mobile phone screen was used as a screen in the Arduino-based automatic irrigation application. Thanks to the touch panel in the structure of mobile phone screens, it also saves on components such as buttons. In the application developed using the Arduino Uno, the communication between the mobile phone and the Arduino Uno was carried out with the Bluetooth module. Thus, an easy-to-use application with low screen cost was developed and the energy consumption of the system was also reduced.
