In this paper, we extend Rife algorithm from frequency estimation in time domain to angle measurement in spatial domain, and achieve direction of arrival (DOA) estimation with high precision and low computation complexity. After performing the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) of received signals in antennas for angle measurement, the Rife algorithm is employed to obtain the exact angle of the signal. The Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm is widely used for attaining accurate angle estimation and high resolution ability, which exhibits high computation cost since it is necessary to search for a target in the entire angle range. In this paper, a fast DOA estimation method was proposed by combining Rife algorithm and MUSIC algorithm. Firstly, Rife algorithm is exploited to get a very small angle range of the input signal. Then MUSIC algorithm is used to search for the accurate estimation of DOA in the angle range attained by Rife algorithm. Theoretical analysis and simulations show that the proposed methods are effective and accurate.
