Practical Recording Materials

This chapter discusses holographic recording materials. Silver halide receives special attention, along with several chemical processing schemes of particular relevance to holography. The recording mechanisms pertaining to dichromated gelatin and photoresist are outlined. Self-processing recording materials such as photothermoplastics and photopolymers are particularly important in holography and many of its applications and are considered in detail, as well as photochromic and photodichroic materials. Photorefractive materials for holographic recording are also described.
