Practical application of the multi-level modeling playground

Multi-level modeling is a paradigm aimed at reducing accidental complexity in models. This enables more compact and accurate models. There are many different approaches in the field of multilevel modeling, relying on different theoretical and practical foundations. The Multi-Level Modeling Playground (MLMP) is a validating modeling environment focusing on specifying the structure and semantics of different multi-level modeling constructs. The goal of MLMP is to foster discussion and experimentation with different ideas in the research community. Thus far, MLMP was not tested in practice. The Collaborative Comparison Challenge issued by the multi-level modeling community aims towards increasing communication between researchers regarding the different approaches to multi-level modeling. This paper presents a practical scenario for MLMP by specifying the Melanee-based solution of the challenge. We also discuss the main strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of MLMP, based on this practical scenario.
