An antenna for a next generation 5G-based Traincentric control system is proposed. The proposed antenna is designed for direct communication between trains and trains, unlike conventional railway systems that communicate with wayside facilities. 5G technology capable of large capacitive and high-reliable communication is applied, and it is designed to be installed in front of and rear of the train rooftop. The antenna consists of a printed dipole, a base metal body, a reflector and a radome. The printed dipole is designed as a wideband to satisfy the 5G bandwidth despite the proximity of other components, and this process is described. The reflector is installed so that the antenna radiation pattern has directionality for better communication with the 5G base stations in front and rear of the train. The antenna sparameters and radiation characteristics are analysed according to the design of the base metal body, reflector and radome. Simulation results are verified through actual fabrication. The fabricated 5G-based Train-centric control system antenna shows - 10 dB bandwidth of 17.4 % and has a neak gain of 5.01 dBi.
