Selecting a Software Design Modelling Language (SDML)

Thomas Hainey, Gavin James Baxter · 2022

Models have been used throughout human history, from ancient civilizations to now, for generating and conveying ideas, planning, and providing verification and validation of design in all areas: architectural design, designing machines and inventions, mapping out the proposed view of the solar system, recreating historical landscapes using VR and game engines, special effects in movies and games, and even modelling human motivation and behaviour. SSADM is a particular implementation of the waterfall model. The Unified modelling language (UML) has an extensive history and evolution. The UML is the unification and extension of the methods of Booch, Rumbaugh, and Jacobson, which began in 1994 when the primary concern was to unify the Booch and OMT methods.
