Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) enables physicians to access real-time data to prevent complications and significantly improve a patient’s quality of life. In addition, patients and their family members feel comfortable knowing that they are being monitored and will be supported if any problems arise. RPM will also help avoid costly ER visits and needless hospitalizations through proactive intervention. Remote patient monitoring of vital signs and physical activity solutions can improve and complement personalized treatments or the care provided by doctors to patients for disease prevention. Also, virtual care improves the patient-centric approach, because it provides other channels of communication such as secure messages, text messages (SMS), or emails between doctors, care teams, patients, and families. RPM platforms can support various measurement data uploads, including blood glucose, blood pressure, temperature, blood oxygen, and weight. Patients’ test results are sent via a cellular connection using a 4G Hub or mobile app to the cloud.
