The purpose of this paper is to prove that set prepositions (entre /d'entre /parmi les N) function in a spatial way. The recognition of this property is supported by syntactic tests which distinguish between typically spatial roles and an 'environment' or 'medium' role. The particular configuration of a set of concrete elements seen as a spatial site requires certain descriptive criteria, specific to sets. This leads to the idea that the three set prepositions form a microsystem, structured around the preposition entre in order to express specific locations.
