An Overview of Blockchain as a Security Tool in the Internet of Things
Shaweta Sachdeva, Aleem Ali · Blockchain · 2022
The IoT concept visualize a world in which many of our ordinary objects will be connected and interact with one another. IoT systems are required for data collection and process automation. This observation covers seamless authentication, data privacy, security, attack resistance, ease of deployment, and self-maintenance, among other things. One of the most promising technologies for providing a robust and secure cybersecurity solution as well as a high level of privacy protection is blockchain. The IoT is a system that connects various smart gadgets to collect data from them and make them intelligent for taking further decisions. However, due to a lack of security measures, IoT prevents a risk to privacy and security. With the feature named security by design, blockchain (BC) can help to address major security challenges in IoT. Transparency, immutability, auditability, and data encryption are all BC characteristics that can help overcome the majority of IoT architectural faults. This chapter studies the topic of blockchain and IoT integration in detail.
