IEC workshop focuses on adolescents.

PubMed · 1999

This article evaluates the workshop sponsored by JOICFP, which focused on information, education and information (IEC) for improvement of reproductive health (RH) among adolescents and young adults in Asia. Through the IEC activities, the advocacy towards adolescent sexual and RH issues is strengthened. A series of activities has been conducted at the regional and national level to attain the long-term goals. These activities emphasized adolescent views and the understanding of themselves regarding sexual ideas and RH. A project assessment and a review were completed in order to determine the priority needs and the concerns at a regional level. This task is useful in making recommendations for future IEC material development strategies and activities. The evaluation shows that training concerning material development and production should be continued with emphasis on clearer messages and scripts. The traditional and the emerging Internet media must be utilized to encourage youth participation in such activities.
