The intention of this article is to reflect on the potential of the interactive class for E/LE (Spanish as Foreign Language) learning by older adults, inserted in the courses offered by the Universidad de Oriente. Older people request the service mainly as an instrumental need: to learn the language in order to cover basic communication needs in personal, educational and public areas. Teaching programs are designed from the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Language, the Curricular Plan of Cervantes Institute and the contributions of Cuban pedagogy. Interactive class is assumed for the prospects it offered to enhance learning, being a developer process through which cooperation and empathy is encouraged, participation is energized and the tension is reduced when errors take place. This purpose is achieved gradually and patiently, attending to the psychosocial characteristics of the person concerned and the psychopedagogical intervention.
