ROLE OF CYBERSECUTIY DEFENDING AGAINST CYBER- ATTACKS IN AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE INDUSTRY

Traditionally, aerospace and defense has been a highly risk-averse industry.Both the industries were aware of cyber security challenges and working very hard to address them.In the current climate, with increasing concerns about cyber security in all the different areas of our life, including financial transactions, internet, personal data and privacy, the aviation and defense industries needs to show leadership and needs to be at forefront of cyber security.Artificial Intelligence and, in particular, machine learning as its subset will also have its applications in aviation cyber security.A weaponized AI in the hands of cyber criminals is a very worrying scenario.However, it also highlights the importance of investigating heavily in AI-defense and research.Finally, Big Data and Predictive Analytics will also play an important role as we are entering a new age of aircraft sensors and processors throughout all the aviation ecosystem, including connectivity, operations or predictive maintenance.Threats from conventional insurgent activities are no longer the only concerns for the defense industry.Advancement in the field of information technology, upgradation of existing weapons with intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems along with increasing volume of classified data gathered systems have necessitated the usage of reliable and enhanced cyber security solutions for the defense industry.Emerging machine learning models will create greater protection against these sophisticated and complex threats.
