KWIC Concordance for Teaching Japanese

Computer Assisted Language Learning is beginning to draw more and more of people's attention with the improvement of technology, and this increase of interest has resulted in one of the most interesting discussions among language teachers and researchers.In this paper I will discuss the possibility of using computers, especially the concordancing programs for teaching Japanese.I will first briefly explain what the concord ance is.Next, I will introduce some practical uses of the concordancing programs in teaching English and then move on to discuss the potential uses in teaching Japanese, while providing some examples made from the concordance.I will also point out some of the potential problems in using the concordance to teach Japanese, and suggest ways in which these problems can be alleviated.Finally, I will discuss various pedagogical benefits of using the concordancing program for Japanese language learning.
