Multiphase VRM and Power Stage Evolution

The following article discusses the evolution of Central Processing Unit (CPU) power delivery by highlighting major milestones and explains reasons behind technology shifts which have influenced our current solutions. The focus is on multiphase controllers, sometimes referred to as PoL (Point of Load) controllers, and DrMOS (Driver – MOSFET) which power CPUs utilized in desktop, server, telecommunication, and artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
