Planning for the IoT Tester on Environments and Testing Details

Jon Duncan Hagar · Apress eBooks · 2022

Part 2 of this book has focused on test planning. I have found many teams that do not do enough planning and then waste time redoing things, particularly the environments, tools, and detailed/daily test activities. I advocate that planning is the first step in testing that each tester must consider during the complete product lifecycle. The previous chapter looked at IoT test planning and strategy for IoT hardware and software since test teams deal with “things” driven by software. The focus was aimed at managers. In this chapter, I continue the IoT test planning by moving to more detailed test plans and the environment (labs), which individual testers should be aware of in addition to the management plans. This chapter ends by addressing testing during the completion of development, operations (Ops), and the end of an IoT product’s lifecycle.
