A Review of Speech Recognition in Low-resource Languages

There are nearly 7,000 languages in the world, most of which are low-resource minority languages with limited phonetic and linguistic resources. In recent years, with the rapid development of Internet technology and the explosive growth of various audio information, the application of network-based multi-language speech recognition technology is becoming more and more urgent. Therefore, the research demand of speech recognition of small language with low resources is also increasing. This paper briefly introduces the development history and basic principles of speech recognition, summarizes the commonly used speech recognition methods for low resource languages and puts forward the future research direction.
