After introducing the architecture concepts of Chapter 17 , this chapter provides an overview of general software and test architecture concepts. While this book has testing as a primary focus, I believe IoT testers (and developers) must understand and work in testing with models of IoT device hardware, system, and software architectures. IoT projects cannot build and test in a vacuum by just focusing on software. Projects need a variety of support architectures for knowledge and collaboration of the teams, as shown in Figure 18-1. Typical architectures include support for the development team, test/security for testing, operations for when the system goes into use, and the product’s architecture with hardware, software, and system defined.
