From Connected Objects to Robots
Jean‐Pierre Chamoux · 2022
This chapter attempts to place digital objects and services within the established law; and to reflect, in prospective terms, on new developments in the law. It examines various cases by way of illustration: first, the health sector; then, with regard to robots and open systems, as in classic civil liability cases. The chapter discusses issues on artificial intelligence and the multiplication of autonomous robots. The EuropeanParliament, always on the lookout for novelties, took a resolution on September 12, 2018, prohibiting the construction of armed robots, taking a stand on an issue that is also being debated at the UN. As for everyday connected objects, they observe biological parameters and/or the behavior of the wearer, while the multiple data they record feed the Big Data on the Internet.
