Concept of and Experiments on Combining Compression with Encryption

Compression reduces storage and communication costs by decreasing data size while encryption provides security by making data unintelligible to everyone but the key holder. We present a novel concept that combines these distinct research areas of Computer Science to sum up the benefits of the two. This work adds a security dimension to compression. We also present the results of some experiments on the way of efficiently implementing the concept.
