Other Important Optimization Algorithms

This chapter offers an overview of current optimization strategies and a summary of important nature-inspired algorithms. Many mathematical methods were used in the design of optimization algorithms prior to the creation of a nature-inspired algorithm. These mathematical techniques were used to direct the search toward the best overall solution. The mathematical plans can be divided into two categories: gradient-based methods and derivation-free methods. Heuristic-based methods address the shortcomings of existing mathematical techniques. Unlike other mathematical-based methods, they provide quick and efficient problem solutions. Metaheuristic algorithms, like heuristic search methods, are used to solve optimization problems and find optimal solutions using heuristic functions. The simulated annealing algorithm is a point-to-point algorithm. It is used to solve optimization problems. It begins its search with one solution and evolves it until the desired solution is not captured.
