Strong cryptography is essential for secure consumer electronic devices. In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of the reaction-based attack (RBA) on QC-MDPC McEliece PKC that uses a modified bit-flipping (BF) decoding algorithm where flipping bits are selected using the distribution of the numbers of unsatisfied parity-checks. We also examine a method to detect the RBA on QC-MDPC McEliece PKC. Simulation results show that the RBA is effective for the modified BF decoding algorithm, and also show that the RBA can be detected by the proposed method.
