Combination of Augmented Reality with Chatbots for Visual Aids in Nutrition Education

Advance with times, people are paying more and more attention for healthy lifestyle. The food you eat in life is closely related to health. Therefore, dietary education has been promoted in Taiwan from elementary school campuses in order to propagate nutrition knowledge. Hoped that children and students can understand the ingredients, nutrition and source of food to develop healthy eating habits and to respect for the environment, nature and life. In this paper, we build a visual aided learning system by combining augmented reality (AR) and chat robot technologies. Students can use this proposed system to learn the ingredients and nutrition of food. It is able to automatically and intelligently identify the food and tell which of the six categories the food belongs to by using standard food guide pyramid. This way for informal and visual learn not only is interesting, but also achieves the purpose of dietary education.
