This research paper aims to understand the disruptive impact of edge computing across industries including manufacturing, logistics and retail. Edge computing is a strategic architecture which helps to maximize operational efficiency, improve performance, safety, automation and bandwidth availability. The paper appreciates this potential of edge computing and through key use cases attempts to depict its impact. The explored use cases indicate a strong positive impact of the technology in the near future. Advancement in the network infrastructure, 5G and other emerging technologies have boosted the edge applications and will enable it to fully realize its potential across domains and industries.
