In the human-machine interactive era gesture plays an important role in communication. Building a bridge between the deaf-mute community and society seems to be vital in the fast-moving world with increasing employment opportunities. The usage of sign language has reduced the gap but studying and understanding sign language seems to be difficult for the common people. Developing an assistive device that will translate the sign language to a readable format will help the deaf-mutes to communicate with ease to the common people. The proposed system uses Convolution Neural Network (CNN) for converting sign language to speech. The CNN model gives an accuracy of 95.5%.
