In recent years, the tripping faults of high-voltage transmission lines induced by bird damage have shown an upward trend. The anti-bird thorns, PVC anti-bird baffles, anti-bird windmills and electronic bird repellents used in the early transmission lines have been unable to meet the new bird-proof requirements. The original method has loopholes in insulation and discharge of bird droppings discharge channels. For example, the PVC anti-bird baffles age quickly, and they are installed above the truss cross-arms to prevent drone inspections and staff to perform insulator string maintenance. In addition, it cannot be used in combination with the early anti-bird thorns. The new characteristics of bird damage show that bird nests that cause bird damage are built in new “five upper” positions, namely: above the insulator, above the bow wire, above the anti-bird thorn, above the V-shaped string, and the overhead ground wire support. The hidden danger of bird damage is manifested in the leakage of the main insulator and the short circuit of the conduction-ground channel of the current bird droppings. According to the Eighteen Major Anti-Accident Measures of State Grid Corporation of China (2020 Revised Edition) and the insulating space around the insulator and the main space for bird droppings excreted by bird damage, this paper develops an array-type silicone rubber anti-bird baffle to Solve the new “five upper” bird's nest problem. It mainly adds the isolation layer of the truss cross arm, which can effectively block and cut off the flashover channel formed by the arc of bird droppings, and effectively prevent the occurrence of bird damage tripping accidents by changing the bird excretion path and channel above the insulator.
