Efficient Approach for Attendance Management using Local Binary Pattern

In an academic institution, attendance management is a tedious task. Automatic real-time attendance management system is needed. We propose an efficient, novel, and intelligent attendance management system using Local Binary Patterns (LBP). It first detects the face of a student and enrolls the attendance automatically. Second, the subject teacher can export attendance in real-time. The proposed method overcomes existing face detection limitations, such as pose variation, illumination variation, and occlusion. Experimental results show significant performance improvement as compared to the existing attendance management system.
